Information

Everything you need for a smooth arrival

Importing a pet to the U.S. has more paperwork than most families expect. We handle the regulatory side so you can focus on the reunion.

CDC Dog Import

All dogs entering the U.S. need a CDC Dog Import Form receipt, valid rabies vaccination (or serology titer), and microchip. We pre-screen your paperwork before arrival.

  • CDC Dog Import Form filed
  • Rabies + microchip verified
  • ISO-compatible chip check

USDA & State Health

USDA-endorsed health certificates and any state-specific requirements are reviewed on intake. We coordinate directly with your origin-country veterinarian when needed.

  • APHIS-endorsed certificates
  • Endorsed within 10 days
  • State import permits

Customs & Release

As a U.S. Customs bonded facility minutes from LAX, we accept transfers directly from the airline, clear CBP on your pet's behalf, and release to you the same day.

  • Direct airline transfer
  • CBP clearance handled
  • Same-day release at LAX

Requirements vary by origin country and species. Call us for a personalized checklist.

Rue, the golden retriever, ready to talk you through the CDC import process

Rue Explains

The CDC import process, told by the dog

Hi, I'm Rue. I've been through this more times than I can count on my paws. Here's exactly what happens when a good dog flies into the U.S. — in my own words.

  1. 01

I get my paperwork in order

Before I even sniff the airport, my humans file my CDC Dog Import Form online. I need a microchip (mine's ISO-compatible, very fancy), a valid rabies vaccination, and — if I'm coming from a high-risk country — a rabies serology titer from an approved lab. Rue's team double-checks every form so I don't get turned away at the gate.

  2. 02

I fly in style, then meet my crew

I travel in an IATA-approved crate with my name on it. When my flight touches down at LAX, the Rue's handlers are already at the cargo terminal waiting. They show CBP my CDC receipt, my USDA-endorsed health certificate, and my reservation. I get to stretch my legs and have some water while the grown-ups do the paperwork.

  3. 03

I clear customs without the chaos

Because Rue's is a U.S. Customs bonded facility, I skip the long airport queues and get transferred straight to their kennel a few minutes from LAX. CBP and CDC do their inspection on-site. If anything's missing, the team fixes it — they've seen every edge case from sixty-plus countries.

  4. 04

I go home (the best part)

Most days I'm released the same afternoon I land. My family gets photo updates the whole time so they know I'm calm, fed, and tail-wagging. Then it's a short ride home, a big hug, and a very long nap. Ten out of ten — would import myself again.

Rue is a very good boy. He is not a licensed veterinarian. Requirements vary by country — call us for your pet's checklist.

About Us

Family-run pet care, trusted at LAX

Rue's Kennels was founded by pet owners who knew firsthand how stressful international travel can be — for the family and the animal. We started with one mission: make the LAX arrival the easiest part of the journey.

Today we're a CDC-licensed, USDA-registered, U.S. Customs bonded facility located minutes from the LAX cargo terminals. Our handlers are on-site around the clock, and every suite is climate-controlled, individually monitored, and cleaned to veterinary standards.

When your pet lands, we're already at the airline. We handle the paperwork, the inspection, and the transport — and you get photos and updates the whole way home.
